Default The problem with new skills...

...is they cost too much!
Yes it another thread about the price of <yadda yadda> in guildwars!

I have a few PvE characters, I mainly PvE. Its my focus, my passion, its what I love about the game. Now I also like expanding my characters. 3 characters from Prophecies, another 1 from factions. Most have had their first birthday, and died far too many times.
I plan on keeping them until the servers go silent.

But if with every new Chapter they release new skills. Thats a lot of new skills I need. I know some are just double or slightly different. But still there skills my Character can use and need to be unlocked.

But I'm disappointed with Factions. 1k per skill its costing me! The skill points aren't soo bad, PvE they stack after a while.
But do the math, 1k per skill with 3 characters! Its only the 2nd chapter too.
Atleast in Prophecies you could do missions to gain skills.

I hope that Idea is brought back big time in Nightfall. Or atleast give us something like faction that we gain (Even if its slowly) to aid us in the cost of new skills. A PvE version of balthazar faction.

And yes I know I could just PvP to get faction! But seriously, I hate the IWAY cookiecutter touch ranger mentality. Not to forget I spend 70% of my time in PvE, because thats my thing!

Yes, I must agree. The lack of skill trainers and the cost of skills in factions is a tad bit high. Although, they did try to make a 'work around' by rewarding quests with gold, as well with the challenge missions that also reward gold. What is all breaks down to is gold farming in factions. I personaly would like to be able to exchange some of my 'quest item' credits for skills. 150 gold for a quest I can only do once does not make up for the fact I have 8 characters that need to buy skills.

The skill cost has nothing to do with Factions. If you bought truckload of skills you were paying 1k each already in Prophecies.

You don't need all the skills. You can buy the skills you need as you go on, which is easy if you have unlocked the Ember Light and Harvest Temple.

And you can get B-Faction from Aspenwood and alliance battles without having to go with the "cookiecutter" mentality.

True the skill cost has nothing to do with factions, besides the fact that they released new skills, which aren't offered as rewards of missions. That you have to but at 1k each. Prophecies still had 1k skills, but lucky enough by that time I had opened most via missions.
But what about Nightfall, any skills I unlock 1k, if they bring in 10 new skills

Buying as you go on, There still 1K. Moot point

Oh and B-Faction from AB's, where touchers run wild. Nope never seen builds controll the make up of these groups ever! /sarcasm
I'm PvE, If I change my character secondary to shut down the flavour of the month build its still 1K per skill. And PvE should never be forced to PvP.

Buying skills is annoying yes, I admit. The one skill that annoys me in particular when I have to buy it is Signet of Capture at 1k a time, but that's just me bein fussy . I have hundreds of unused skill points across all my chars, almost 200+ on my warrior alone, but I don't feel the need to have all or most of the skills, I prefer to buy selectively depending on what I want my character to do at the time.

There was still a ton of skills that weren't offered at quest rewards, the elite caps alone bump the price to 1k easy. It's intended to be moneysink, simple as that. The 1k price isn't that hefty either in the end. Atleast I got some 210+ used skillpoints on my monk and I didn't feel like compaining about the cost :b

Selectively, but if say you had another method that wasn't soo dear, would you still do it selectively?

And yeah Signet of Cap is painfull.

I know its a gold sink, a poorly designed gold sink. Since most people won't buy all the skills, it more of an oversight. And it only limits PvE. If I was a PvPer I would be laughing. I can Boon Pro, like a... mmm... Pro! Best dam monk in my guild; maybe alliance!
